Atelier Mirabelle

I opened the Mirabelle atelier and boutique in April 2024, in the medieval sky village of Puycelsi, Tarn, France. It’s a place of stone, light, and slow rhythms — exactly the kind of setting that suits a brand built around craft, intention, and time.

My path began in England, where I trained in fashion design and pattern cutting and spent over twenty years creating made-to-measure garments: daywear, eveningwear, and wedding pieces shaped closely to the individual. Those years taught me what matters most: fit, proportion, comfort, and construction — the quiet elements you feel when you put something on and it simply belongs.

Mirabelle first grew through small ready-to-wear collections in organic cotton jersey, dyed using plant-based colour. People responded immediately to the ease of movement, the simplicity, and the sense of care in every stitch. But wovens were always my first love — cloth with character, texture, and structure — and today the atelier is dedicated to exploring linen, cotton, hemp, and wool in designs that balance practicality with understated elegance.

Pattern cutting is my quiet obsession. I love the puzzle of shaping fabric into something that feels effortless on the body — garments that move well, layer beautifully, and last. Each piece is designed and made with a focus on breathability, longevity, and thoughtful finishing, using natural fibres chosen to age gracefully rather than wear out.

The thread runs deep, quite literally. On my English side, my family history is tied to the textile industry of the North: cotton once shipped from India and spun into thread, then woven into cloth in England. My great-grandmother was a tailor near Manchester, working with her hands and her eye for line. On the French side, my grandmother had an intuitive mastery of handcraft — dressmaking, lacework, knitting, and pattern cutting — and my father trained in Mirecourt’s tradition of precision as a bow maker for string instruments. Cloth and craftsmanship run in my blood, long before Mirabelle existed.

In the boutique, the clothing is accompanied by a small, curated selection of French jewellery designers and Italian accessories, chosen for the same values: quality materials, skilled craftsmanship, and a timeless feel.

Where Mirabelle is going next:

Mirabelle is rooted in Puycelsi — but it isn’t staying small in ambition. I’m building a series of capsule collections for a handful of boutiques across Europe — in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands — pieces made to order in small series, designed to be worn often and kept for years.

The aim is simple: to carry this family inheritance forward — an instinct for fabric, a respect for skill, and clothing that becomes encore plus belle with time.
